Is my storage unit secure?
The security of your belongings is our priority and we are constantly upgrading and adding security advancements to our already state of the art 24/7 security system which includes a timed gate access feature, adding an extra layer of security to safeguard your belongings, as well as cameras around the entire yard, and for extra measures our policy is that each customer brings or purchases with us their own lock.
What is the best lock for my storage unit?
A disk lock is the most secure lock to use on both a storage shipping container and a climate controlled unit.
What are the access hours?
The gate is open Monday to Friday from 7A.M. to 5 P.M.. The office is open Monday to Friday 9 A.M. to 3 P.M..
Is there drive-up access?
All of our units have drive-up access. No lugging your heavy items up stairs or elevators. Simply drive right up to your unit and unload.
Do I need insurance for my stored items?
Although insurance is not required, we always recommend that if you are storing items of value in a storage unit, that you should consider purchasing storage insurance.
Can I purchase storage insurance with Steel City Storage Inc.?
At this time Steel City Storage Inc. does not offer storage insurance, however, most insurance providers offer a storage insurance policy that you can add to your existing Home or Automotive insurance policy for minimal monthly costs.
Are there climate-controlled units available?
Yes, we offer a wide variety of size options in climate controlled units.
How long can I rent a storage unit?
The limit does not exist! Stay as long as you would like. The rental agreement is automatically renewed on the 1st or anniversary date of each month. When you are finished with the unit, simply let us know your move-out date 10 days prior to moving-out.
Can I access my unit at any time?
Of course! 24/7 access is possible with a Gate Pass.
What happens if I forget my Gate Pass?
Unfortunately, you will not have access. In the case that you lose or misplace your Gate Pass please inform the office immediately and we will be happy to help you replace that pass.
What is portable storage used for?
It is used for renovations, decluttering, heavy equipment or machinery, home restorations, construction sites, automotive parts and/or tires, restaurants, seasonal inventory, inventory overflow, winter storage of lawn equipment, etc.
